Sentient Communications provides a broad range of Public Relations services which extend from core positioning and publicity work to sophisticated corporate communications. Most PR agencies do this - it's their job. Some do it better, some worse, and all promise "strategic PR planning", media coverage and added value for clients. Some go on for pages about how the world is getting smaller and communications requirements are growing more complex and that companies need to engage with new media.
We think this all goes without saying.
We don't do "obvious". We don't do "blah blah". Rather, we take pride in the effort we put into being highly informed about the industries our clients operate in. We care deeply about the quality of the work we do, and attention to detail. We form close personal relationships with clients, and with media, because business is about people, first and foremost. We get to understand your brand, and how it relates to your business. This is where good strategy comes from.
We have embraced the new world of digital Public Relations services (or online PR or Web PR, PR 2.0...whatever you want to call it). We come from a strong communications background where we understand how people talk to their audiences through different sets of media. We extend this to the online world, where the principles remain the same, even if the media do not. This includes "online publications", user-generated content sites and social media. Add to this our decades of combined experience in high-tech, and we're particularly well positioned. We've embraced the online world - so much that we created a division called Sentient Digital to specifically address it.

We passionately believe that we make a difference to our clients' businesses. If not, we don't believe we should take on their account.

We run our campaigns according to a strategic plan that is pre-approved by our clients. While the plan is dynamic and will be changed as needed, everyone must be clear on what is to be done. We will not quote on your job before we know exactly what we have to deliver and are comfortable that you will receive what's expected.
Having an idea of what budget a client has beforehand certainly helps us contain our more wildly creative ideas, but where needed we can come up with a proposal, and work backwards from there to meet the available budget. We will not produce a Public Relations services plan that does not entirely align with your company's business objectives.
We will start off our relationship with an exploratory meeting. We then move into an in-depth messaging workshop with you (yes, we provide yummy snacks). From this meeting we develop a PR plan which contains a detailed breakdown of the Public Relations services, strategies and media we will use, and how this will play out in terms of deliverables and costs.
If, after the messaging workshop, you choose not to take the relationship further, we charge a once-off fee for the messaging workshop, and give you all the documentation which is generated from it. This includes a full marketing and business SWOT, along with an analysis of audiences and core messaging.
If, on the other hand, you like what you see, we will prepare a renewable six or twelve month campaign plan, and allocate the necessary resources to get started on doing what we do best for you.

Roger Hislop - New service - social media policy development
We've launched a packaged service called "Social Media Policy Development", as seen on BizCom. This is not something new to a number of Sentient's clients -- we've done a bunch of social media policies, strategies, workshops, call them what you will, over the last two or three years. These range from simple "how to use Twitter" or "why you shouldn't blog if you're had half a bottle of wine" to...
